Strictly Come Dancing's Tasha Ghouri and Aljaž Škorjanec have revealed the panic-stricken moment when they realised Ghouri's hearing aid had fallen out midway through their performance.

The BBC show contestants spoke to Lorraine about how they had dealt with the mishap, with Ghouri explaining that she fell back on the trust she has in her dance partner to carry her through the rest of the routine.

Meanwhile, their rivals JB Gill and Lauren Oakley also spoke to Good Morning Britain on Wednesday about the third person in their partnership – the JLS star's wife.

Tasha Ghouri and Aljaž Škorjanec unexpectedly found themselves in the Strictly dance off at the weekend, but the pair have told how the real panic came during their routine when Ghouri's hearing aid fell out.

Explaining that their Argentine Tango had involved a lot of dramatic head turns which had sent Ghouri's earpiece flying, the former Love Island contestant told ITV's Lorraine that she had put her trust in Škorjanec to help her through the dance.

Ghouri, who is deaf and relies on the earpiece to help her timing, said: "It's a message to say, don't ever give up and keep going. The show has to go on, I've got so much trust in Aljaž as well that I felt comfortable saying, ok, let's keep going, we've got each other, let's just keep going."

Škorjanec admitted: "My heart stopped on the floor when that happened. We always try to count to our celebrities like ventriloquists so no one can really tell. But this time around Tasha has to lip read and I was literally shouting out the counts like I never have before."

Opening up on how she felt about being in the dance off, which saw Montell Douglas and Johannes Radebe sent home, Ghouri said: "I said, I'm happy to dance this again because I love the dance, and I went with more fire. But especially this week, I'm like let's do it, fight back."

Speaking about having her earpiece decorated to match her outfits each week, she said fans had been sending her photos of them trying the same thing: "It sends such a positive message to embrace your disability. Getting messages of people doing it, it makes me feel like I'm doing my purpose."

JB Gill and Lauren Oakley have been getting used to their new partnership after the JLS singer's original partner Amy Dowden had to withdraw from Strictly, but the pair told Good Morning Britain that there was also a third member of their team.

Gill's wife Chloe is a professional dancer and host Susanna Reid asked them about some criticism they had received about her always being in the training room in comments on social media videos.

But Oakley clarified: "Honestly it's so nice. I feel like she's my best friend. I want to be her when I grow up, even though she's only a couple of years older than me but I really like having her in the room. She's JB's number one supporter, she's always there on a Saturday night and she knows her husband better than I know her husband so it's really nice to have that middle person. I end up calling her before I call JB so it's really nice to have that extra support."

Gill, who runs a turkey farm outside of his life as a pop star, added that he was looking at a particularly busy Christmas if he made it into the Strictly final.

He said of the turkey farm: "It's very busy. At the moment it's calmed down a little bit and then it's going to ramp up, thankfully just in time – if I do make it into the final – just after the final it'll be crazy busy and then it'll be quiet for Christmas again."

Good Morning Britain and Lorraine air on ITV1 at 6am and 9am on weekdays.
