Strictly Come Dancing launch show to pay tribute to Bruce Forsyth

Last week, news emerged that legendary TV presenter Bruce Forsyth had died.

The 89-year-old’s career spanned more than 75 years, hosting numerous popular shows, such as Play Your Cards Right and The Price is Right.

Until 2015, Forsyth also presented the BBC One competition Strictly Come Dancing alongside Tess Daly, before being replaced by Claudia Winkleman.

The BBC has since announced that the 2017 Strictly launch show will pay special tribute to Forsyth.

“The thoughts of everyone here at are still very much with Sir Bruce’s family,” a statement from Louise Rainbow, executive producer, reads.

“Of course, we will be paying tribute to Sir Bruce at our launch show and this will include a heartfelt performance from out Strictly professional dancers.

“We want to celebrate him and all that he loved about the show. Sir Bruce was, and will always be, a huge part of Strictly Come Dancing.”

Meanwhile, the full line-up for the next series has been confirmed by the BBC, all 15 contestants for the 15 series being announced.

Among them are Holby City’s Chizzy Akudolu, actress Gemma Atkinson, and X Factor winner Alexandra Burke. The series launches 9 September.
