Strictly Come Dancing pro dancer Kevin Clifton has answers for fans worried that this weekend’s finale will be the last time they see him in the BBC ballroom.

Those fears came about amid tabloid reports over the weekend claiming he’d decided to quit the series due to ongoing tension with estranged spouse Karen Clifton, who also works on the BBC show.

The whispers eventually got to Kevin himself, who has now assured his fans that he has absolutely no plans to say goodbye to Strictly once his partnership with Stacey Dooley ends.

“Wow, reports of me quitting @bbcstrictly today are the first I've heard of it #ilovemyjob,” he tweeted.

When a fan asked him directly if reports of him leaving were true, he insisted: “Course it's not true. I'm not going anywhere as long as they still want me.”

Kevin did recently announce that he would not be able to reunite with Stacey Dooley on the upcoming Strictly Come Dancing live tour because he’s set to star on stage in Rock of Ages.

Instead, Stacey will be paired with Aljaz Skorjanec, with Kevin recently suggesting that she’ll be in more than safe hands with her new partner.

“I think Aljaz is probably quite similar to me in terms of what I'm like to work with, neither of us are strict, we both prefer to have fun and encourage as opposed to being disciplinarian,” he explained.

"I would really hate it if Stacey was going to someone who was going to scream and shout at her and all that, I'd be really uncomfortable with that actually, but no, I don't think Aljaz is like that, so she's in good hands."

Meanwhile, Karen and Kevin Clifton have continued performing together even after splitting as a couple, so perhaps it’s best to consider all of this latest talk one big unsubstantiated rumour for now.

The Strictly Come Dancing finale airs on Saturday (December 15) at 6.30pm on BBC One as one couple win the Glitterball Trophy. The special will also feature music from crooner Michael Bublé.
