Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Robin Windsor has announced his retirement.

Appearing on spin-off show It Takes Two, Robin shared with presenter Zoe Ball that he is currently on his "farewell tour".

"I've been on tour, and I'm about to finish my farewell tour," explained Robin, who has been with the BBC dancing programme since 2010. "And retire."

"Everyone always says that, though, and then they come back later – which we love," Zoe replied, to which Robin joked: "I'm not Cher!"

During the interview, Robin reserved high praise for Ashley Roberts and Pasha Kovalev, who scored the first 40 of the series over the weekend in Blackpool.

"Thoroughly well-deserved," he gushed. "That jive was everything and more. Amazing kicks, amazing flicks, amazing choreography, amazing, amazing, amazing.

"And I've got to say, Ashley may have some dance training in other styles, but ballroom is so foreign for her, and to be able to do an exceptional job like that, with the technique, Pasha must have worked her extremely hard."

But his top performance of the night came from Charles Venn and Karen Clifton.

"I couldn't take my eyes off Charles," he shared. "He was so samba-tastic and he gave it everything. It was my favourite dance of the night."

Last weekend saw Kate Silverton eliminated alongside her professional partner Aljaž Škorjanec, after they found themselves in the dance-off with Graeme Swann and Oti Mabuse.

Robin's best performance on the show came in 2012 (series 10), when he reached the semi-final with Lisa Riley.

Strictly Come Dancing next airs on Saturday (November 24) at 6.50pm on BBC One.
