Strictly Come Dancing’s Saffron Barker’s future in the show may be in jeopardy after she injured her back during Saturday night’s dance.

The 20-year-old YouTube star - who is paried with AJ Pritchard on the BBC dance contest - shared on her Instagram stories that she is in a lot of pain and struggling with rehearsals for the next stage of the competition.

Barker told her 1.3million followers: “I'm actually in so much pain. I really hurt my back on Saturday. We actually can't get through today. We can't do it.”

Pritchard added: “No, it's going well. It's just that we have to do specific points. There's a lot of cane work in there which is amazing but we are just being sensible.”

The pair are due to perform a Foxtrot to the Frank Sinatra classic New York, New York for the judges and viewers on Saturday night.

Barker then posted at 1am after attending an awards ceremony, saying: “The pain in my back is just keeping me up all night.”

And she posted a picture of a packet of heat-relieving gel asking: “Got both but does anyone know if heat pads or Deep Heat is better for me back? In absolute agony.”

Last weekend saw Barker and Pritchard earn an impressive 33 out of 40 point for their contemporary dance to Because You Loved Me by Celine Dion. Barker dedicated the dance to her grandmother who was watching on in the audience and ran to hug her afterwards.

She previously admitted on BBC Two spin-off show Strictly: It Takes Two: “I am covered in bruises, yes, this is the first time we've done lifts together. It is difficult and a lot of pain!”
