Strictly Come Dancing's pros and judges are set to dazzle with an "avant-garde gothic tango" on the first results show of the 2024 season moving to the tunes of Prince's When Doves Cry and New Order's Blue Monday before the initial elimination takes place.

The longest-standing judge, Craig Revel Horwood, is sure to turn heads, donning a blonde wig and presiding from a golden throne. Meanwhile, Anton Du Beke will capture attention in a purple jacket paired with a golden waistcoat and crisp white shirt, and Shirley Ballas alongside Motsi Mabuse will keep it sleek in all-black ensembles.

The professional dancers, clad in contrasting white and black, will create a dramatic backdrop around the throne which the judges seem poised to vie for. Strictly fans should mark their calendars for Sunday, September 29 at 7.15pm on BBC One and iPlayer for the series' first results extravaganza during its 20th anniversary run.

Nick Knowles, famed for hosting DIY SOS, reassured fans on Thursday that despite an injury scare, hes fit to perform on the upcoming Saturday live show. Pro dancer Amy Dowden soared to the top of the judges leaderboard last week, triumphantly returning post her breast cancer recovery alongside JLS star JB Gill.

As the new series kicks off, the BBC is undertaking an investigation following claims levelled against ex-pro Giovanni Pernice by his 2023 celebrity partner Amanda Abbington. Pernice denies the accusations levelled against him, and amid the uproar, his colleague Graziano Di Prima has exited the programme as well.
