Strictly Come Dancing has had its most dramatic elimination so far tis series, with the judges divided on who to send home from the show this week, as the result went right to the wire.

Last week's result left many BBC viewers up in arms about Sam Quek and Montell Douglas ending up in the bottom two, with Sam then sent home after the dance-off. However. the uproar in reaction to that outcome pales in comparison to how things turned out on Saturday night.

After two weeks of themes - Halloween and Icons - normal service was resumed in the Strictly ballroom this weekend, with the competition tighter than ever, as Blackpool loomed on the horizon and all the remaining couples were desperate to get a seat on the bus to the seaside. There ended up being four ties on the week 8 leaderboard, with JB and Tasha both on 37 at the top, Pete and Montell both getting 36, Sarah and Chris on 33 and Shayne and Jamie joint bottom on 30, with Jamie looking particularly crestfallen at the lukewarm response his Argentine Tango had from the panel.

With just seven points between first and last on the leaderboard, this week's result was always going to be a closely run thing and, when it leaked around 11pm last night, the Strictly spoiler revealed that the decision on who to send home was far from unanimous.

CHronicleLive have chosen not to reveal how the judges voted or the identity of the two couples in danger, but we can report that there was a big divide on the panel last night.

The result leak caused a huge stir on X, with one irate fan replying: "FIX FIX FIX!!!!" as another posted: "worried this was gonna happen!!" and a third wrote: "I feel like they've eliminated the wrong couple."
