Former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Ellie Taylor has revealed that she paid a visit to Urgent Care after injuring her calf muscle.

The comedian and actor, who was recently confirmed to be a part of the line-up for Gladiators: Celebrity Special, took to Instagram this week to share a photo of herself on crutches, with her foot wrapped in a boot.

While she admitted that filming for Gladiators has been "physically arduous", it was "showing off" during a trip to soft play with daughter that caused the injury.

"A brutal, physically arduous day filming Celebrity Gladiators = no probs. 30mins in a soft play with my daughter = visit to Urgent Care," the Ted Lasso star wrote in the caption.

"Nothing like trying to show off in front of some children to bring you back down to earth with a bump.

"Or a pop, which is what my calf muscle did as I heroically raced up a treacherous 3ft ramp."

Taylor was officially confirmed for the Gladiators: Celebrity Special earlier this month, saying in a statement at the time: "Me being on Celeb Gladiators is the answer to the question 'What’s the most elaborate thing you’d do to get your 5-year-old a foam finger?'

"We all love the show in my house, and I'm so excited to take part! I can’t wait to get chased by athletic goddesses and ask Viper about his childhood."

Other celebrities set to take part in the one-off episode, which will be hosted by Bradley and Barney Walsh, include Comedian Rob Beckett, The Masked Singer host Joel Dommett and The One Show's Louise Minchin.

Gladiators: Celebrity Special's release date will be announced in due course by BBC One.
