Strictly Come Dancing fans have been left feeling heartbroken after Amy Dowden's appearance on It Takes Two left her in tears.

Amy, who missed the 2023 competition due to a battle with breast cancer, announced she would be pulling out of the competition after suffering a foot injury. As a result, JB Gill would be now partnered up with Lauren Oakley, following Amy leaving the show.

Now, the professional dancer appeared on It Takes Two along with host Janette Manrara, to talk about what had happened.

First, she explained how she was, and said she was "absolutely gutted" about having to leave, revealing she had suffered an insufficiency stress fracture to her shin. She said this had "nothing to do with my injury last year" but that she needed to rest for a couple of weeks.

Amy said: "Unfortunately, JB, obviously, he's got to continue, he's got the amazing Lauren, but hopefully I'll be back dancing in some capacity, maybe in a group number, by the end of the series, fingers crossed."

In addition, Amy said she had spoken to JB Gill and was keeping up to date with his training and how things were going.

Then, Janette asked about how Amy had felt about being back with the group, and how it had contribute to her wellbeing. This question left Amy wiping tears from her eyes as she said: "Oh it was everything. Sorry, I'm heartbroken."

After being comforted and reassured by Janette, she added: "Being back with the Strictly family, with the best rehab..."

Janette added: "Well we loved having you back, it's been so gorgeous, so inspiring, so beautiful, to see you doing what you do."

After recovering, Amy went on to talk about what kind of partnership Lauren and JB would have, and she said Lauren was getting a "very kind, very patient" partner. Amy praised JB's talent and how fast he could pick up routines, saying he loved to dance.

She added: "I'm just gutted because I was just having the best, best time."

Amy then said that "this too shall pass" and that she would be there "cheering everybody on". To this, Amy got applause before a video message from JB was played.

In it JB paid tribute to Amy, saying: "Hey partner! Just a little note to say you're a wonderful teacher, a beautiful soul and that you're going to be back dancing better and stronger very very soon.

"Thank you for absolutely everything over the last few months."

Amy praised JB's dancing ability and said she would be his "biggest cheerleader. She added: "This injury could have happened to anybody, I want to stress this has nothing to do with any previous health scares you know, or what I've been through, it's just one of those things."
