Strictly Come Dancing star Chris McCausland was flooded with messages of support as he enters the next stage of the competition. The Scouse comedian is the show's first ever blind contestant and has emerged as a favourite to lift the Glitterball.

The 47-year-old received two tens for his performance in Blackpool Week on Saturday, alongside Dianne Buswell. The dancer said it was an "emotional" and the performance was particularly special as her parents have arrived in the UK to watch her dance for this Saturday's episode.

Chris told the ECHO In an exclusive interview how he wanted to reach the milestone for his dancing partner: "Me and Dianne have really had this pipe dream of being here the week after Blackpool because her mum and dad are coming from Australia and they haven't seen her dance live for eight years.

"This is nothing without her, she has got the most out of me and I think it will be nice if we're both able to give something to each other. If we can get to that moment then stick a fork in me, I'll be done. But certainly, I'm hoping to stay in this for as long as possible."

Chris and Dianne have provided fans with an insight into their training ahead of week 10 of Strictly. They are dancing a Paso Doble to El Gato Montes and Chris admitted he is struggling with another Latin dance.

The comic shared the update in his tour diary as Dianne joked it was their first tour video this week because she's been too busy explaining the dance entails to Chris. She added: "He's heard that many different versions and songs of Paso Dobles that have been played throughout the series that he's like 'I don't get it'.

"Why's there so many different songs that you can do a Paso to. However, we have a lovely classic Paso and he's doing extremely well." Chris added: "I had no idea what a Paso Doble was. Not a clue. You're teaching me and I was like 'are you sure this is right?' This doesn't feel like you've learnt how to do this properly."

Dianne was in stitches as she revealed she has added a Samba to the dance. Chris laughed: "Who likes double Latin?" Appreciate all the votes last week, but, if I'm honest, we did quite well on our own. This week, please vote for us."

Fans took to the comments to send messages of support as eliminated Katya Jones said: "You’ll be just fine!!! Keep going team!!!" Other fans praised the two and said Chris' high marks on Saturday were well deserved and the he has been transformed by the confidence boost.

Lisa said: "Omg. He looks like a different man. So well, happy, uplifted, invigorated. The happy oozes from inside him now. This is why EVERYONE should dance"

Abbie commented: "You two were incredible and so deserved those tens!! So excited for your parents to come and watch you this weekend."

In the video, Dianne revealed her parents had now arrived in the UK and shared a thrilled update with her parents last night as they cooked for her and boyfriend, Joe Sugg.
