Strictly Come Dancing's Chris McCausland shares dispute with wife over new family addition
Strictly Come Dancing favourite Chris McCausland revealed details of a dispute with his wife over a new addition to their family. Chris is the favourite to win this year's version of the BBC reality show, but one thing he didn't win was an argument with his wife and daughter over getting a dog.
The 47-year-old Strictly contestant was dead set against the idea due to the family living in a flat and his transient career as a comedian, but eventually caved and adopted a toy poodle called Dora. Speaking to the Oh My Dog! podcast with fellow comedians Jack Dee and Seann Walsh, Chris was asked whose idea it was to get Dora.
He replied: "This is the point of contention. I have a horrible feeling I might come across as the most unlikeable guest you've had on the series.

"So Dora, I would like to say it was a family decision. There are three in our family. Me, my wife, my daughter. It was something that was discussed at great length.
"I was against the idea of getting a dog at that time, for lots of reasons. As a comedian, I travel a lot, I'm not around much. I knew it would massively restrict my wife and daughter's ability to be out and socialise.
"It would be one of those things that I got blamed for even though it wasn't my decision to get a dog.
"We live in a flat still with no immediate access to outside. I was like: 'Well why don't we just leave it a little bit. When we moved house we can look at getting a dog, and we can get a proper size dog.'
"Cut to two months later and we've got a tiny dog that's been specifically researched and purchased for flat life. It has massive separation anxiety, you can't get up without it following you around."
Chris joked that Dora is the runt of the litter even in a litter of toy poodles and they needed to get an extra small harness for her injections, which was still too big.
Chris is the odds on favourite to win the glitterball this year, dancing with professional dancer Dianne Buswell.
He is the show's first ever blind contestant after he completely lost his sight in his 20s and 30s due to genetic condition retinitis pigmentosa.
Chris dances in Strictly Come Dancing from 6.45pm tonight (Saturday, November 16) on BBC One.
