Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood has revealed who he is backing to replace Darcey Bussell on the panel.

The ballet icon announced that she would be stepping down from the series earlier this month, which has led to intense speculation about who will take over.

Well, Craig has given his two cents on the matter, suggesting that former X Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger would be among his top picks.

"She'd be fabulous," he told Australia's TV Week. "And Anton du Beke definitely wants to do it. I'd love to see Nicole, or Carlos [Acosta].

"But nobody has actually expressed anything to me. And I'm generally the last to find out!"

Craig also admitted he has no say in the matter, adding: "No, of course not! But it doesn't matter if I don't get on with them.

"The difference of opinion is rather good, generally. For me it's of no concern. I just hope they choose the right person and they know what they're talking about."

He isn't the only one backing Scherzy for the gig, with former professional Kristina Rihanoff saying last week that she would love to see the Pussycat Dolls star in the role.

"She is a beautiful stunning lady who has training in street and commercial dancing," she said. "She would be a good judge."

Strictly Come Dancing returns later this year on BBC One.
