Dianne Buswell received heartfelt support from her fellow Strictly Come Dancing stars as she revealed the special reason she felt grateful to advance to next week's show.

On Saturday, Dianne and Chris McCausland became the 100th Strictly Come Dancing couple to perform in Blackpool. The BBC One show aired from the Blackpool Tower Ballroom on Saturday as it celebrated its 20th year by opening with the professional dancers performing to Pet Shop Boys.

Dianne and Chris then took to the floor to perform an American smooth routine to Canada-born singer Paul Anka’s Jump. The dance was praised by the judges, who gave the pair 37 points.

Head judge Shirley Ballas told black tie-wearing Chris, he had the “best feet I’ve seen in a long time”, and “didn’t miss a beat”. Judge Anton Du Beke added: "If anyone can beat that tonight, I’d be amazed."

Following the show, which saw Wynne Evans eliminated, Dianne shared an update with fans on Instagram. In the post she spoke of the special reason she was grateful to be able to compete for another week.

She said: "Thank you all so so much for voting for Chris and I on Saturday night we are so excited for another week on the dance floor together.

"And something I have been waiting for for a long time now is for my mum and dad to be in that audience to see the concert live and it’s finally happening.

"Chris thank you for making this moment possible. I am so grateful and so so excited I could burst."

Responding to the post, Chris said: "Woooooo!!! It was very emotional. Thank you to everybody that voted for us. Dancing in Blackpool with seven incredible dancers is something I will never forget - thank you guys. Change of plan though Dianne.

"The goal we set ourselves was to try to get through Blackpool so that we could still be in this thing for your mum and dad's arrival.

"We now also need to get through next week as we can't have them coming all this way to see us being eliminated can we. Bring on next week partner! Lots of love."

Fellow dancer Katya Jones added: "I’m so excited for your parents to watch you dance." And Carlos Gu said: "Proud of you."
