BBC Strictly Come Dancing star Janette Manrara has confessed she will not be supporting husband Aljaz Skorjanec in the upcoming series as she is 'not allowed favourites'. The It Takes Two host appeared on BBC The One Show alongside Fleur East as they spoke with hosts Alex Scott and Roman Kemp.

Attention turned to Aljaz's return to the BBC series, with Janette making a surprising admission. Roman asked: "Janette, I know someone you'll be cheering on. Aljaz, of course. Is it nice to see him back out there?"

Janette replied: "It is incredible to see him back on the show, but I'll be honest, I am not allowed favourites as host of It Takes Two, so I'm going to be looking at him the same way as I look any other professional and celebrity on the show." She added: "It is nice to have him on the telly.

"I tell you it was really nice to watch him with Lyra. I had tears in my eyes because it was just so special to sit with our daughter, watching Daddy on the telly doing what he loves to do. It was amazing."

Aljaz is not the only one making a return as professional dancer Amy Dowden will also be making her comeback following her cancer diagnosis, Express reports. When asked by Roman about Amy's return was, the mum-of-one replied: "Amy is such an incredible woman, she has had Crohn's her whole life and she's dealt with that then she had to battle cancer, but she never gave up pushing and pushing and trying to get back onto that dance floor.

"She's meant to dance, she was born to dance, so for her to be able to come back and come back with a bang, this number was phenomenal. It is so special to have a back when every single person on the show is so excited."

Talk soon shifted to the 20th anniversary special, as Alex asked: "Strictly, though it's a special year, the 20th anniversary. What's going to be happening? What's the special surprises in store?"

Janette teased: "Alex, you know, it's a big year. There's gonna be some surprises, there's gonna be a couple of new twists and turns, like you said in your lovely intro, happening for the 20th anniversary.

"I think watch this space. There's definitely gonna be some new stuff."

The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One.
