Strictly Come Dancing's Karen Hauer has addressed the uncertainty around this year's series as many productions are being halted due to coronavirus restrictions.

Karen and fellow dancer Oti Mabuse were appearing via video link for This Morning's Dance Along with Strictly Stars segment when Karen was asked whether the crisis will impact rehearsals, and ultimately the show's air date.

Holly asked: "I guess you're hoping that in six months things will get back to normal, but you must be looking ahead and thinking, wow, is this going to impact on when start training on the next series of Strictly?

"Well of course, but it's that thing of we're taking it day by day," she replied. "The most important thing right now is that we're following the government guidelines and staying home and staying safe.

"We're trying to dance and stay fit as much as we can. We need Strictly. We hope that Strictly does come back."

Anton du Beke also opened up about the future of the show during an appearance on Channel 4's The Steph Show, telling host Steph McGovern: "I should think the pre-production of it should be going ahead as normal.

"It's when we get into the studio, the pros get into the studio in August... so hopefully we will be out of it by then, so hopefully we can get back into the studio."

He added: "If not, the actual live stuff doesn't start until about September, so we're hoping we'll be out of it by then and back to some sort of normality.

"I think everyone will be ready for a bit of Strictly Come Dancing by then!"

The BBC said: “We will continue to review all productions on a case by case basis and will continue to follow the latest news and advice from the Foreign Office, World Health Organisation and Public Health England.”

We're keeping everything crossed for Strictly Come Dancing later in 2020.

This Morning airs on weekdays on ITV.
