Strictly Come Dancing star Pete Wicks has reportedly been left 'gutted' that he is not able to travel to Australia after rumoured girlfriend Maura Higgins entered the I'm A Celeb jungle.

After Maura became the latest celebrity to join the camp on Thursday (November 21), a source has claimed why Pete won't be jetting off down under to see her.

The source told Closer magazine: "Pete's gutted he can't get out to support Maura in the jungle, but it looks like he just won't be able to."

With the pair set to endure weeks apart as the former Love Islander bids to be crowned queen of the jungle, the insider added: "He and Maura had a really nice last night together and he'll really miss her - he's smitten! But his diary is absolutely rammed and work offers have been flying in since he started on Strictly."

With rumours that the reality stars are dating show no signs of stopping, the former Love Islander was eager to shut them down earlier this week as she told the Daily Mirror: "I mean, I've been on a date with many people," reports Lancs Live.

She added: “I'm not [dating]. Where have you heard that? I date but I'm very much single,” she says. “Honestly, I just think the interest in my dating life is so boring. People go on dates. Like everyone goes on dates, but then it suddenly becomes that I am in a relationship with this person, or that person.”

Meanwhile, Pete gave cryptic responses about his rumoured relationship as he spoke to former Love Islander, Olivia Attwood on her So Wrong It's Right podcast last month, as he said: "She is lovely, me and Maura have known each other for a very long time.

"I think Maura is great and we get on really well and we have done for a very long time."

Despite constantly shutting down the talk that they are dating, the pair were snapped as they kissed at the after party of the Pride of Britain awards last month.

And only two months earlier, they were seen doing the same as they were standing outside the Broadwick hotel in London.

A representative for Maura declined to comment. A rep for Pete has also been contacted.

Pete is still aiming to win the coveted Strictly glitterball. He and professional partner Jowita Przystal are down to the final seven couples.

Catch Pete on Strictly tonight (Saturday, November 23) at 7.05pm on BBC One.
