Pete Wicks was clocked looking 'shaken up' and almost speechless at making it through to the Strictly Come Dancing quarter final on Sunday night, as many viewers at home hit out at him still being in the competition.

Ex TOWIE star Pete will be the first to admit that he's not the best dancer and, given that critics were annoyed he made it through last weekend, he was made the clear bookies favourite to go this week, with him well ahead of closest rival Montell Douglas in the odds. However, in a huge upset it was former Olympic runner Montell and not Pete who ended up in the Strictly dance-off, despite her scoring a brilliant 37 out of 40 and eight points more than Pete.

It was EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick who was the first star to be confirmed in the bottom two during Sunday's Strictly results show, as JB Gill, Tasha Ghouri and Sarah Hadland all found out they were safe. When Tess Daly returned to deliver the rest of the results, Chris McCausland was also called safe, leaving Pete and Jowita and Montell and Johannes left standing.

Their demeanour on screen suggested that Pete and Jowita had resigned themselves to being in the dance-off, so when it ended up being Montell and Johannes, they looked dumbfounded, taking a few seconds to process what had happened. And Pete seemed just as shell-shocked moments later when he spoke to host Claudia Winkleman.

After she remarked that Pete looked 'shaky, emotional and speechless,' he appeared to wipe away a tear told her: "There are two reasons why I'm here and that's the public....I've never done anything like this before, I'm so overwhelmed; thanks to everyone who's supported us it's certainly not down to the dancing - but also, Jowita."

Many people watching the Strictly result at home were just as surprised that Pete was safe, although they were a lot more angry about it, with one ranting: "Ridiculous Pete is through, fkin joke" and another fumed: "WHAT? Pete is safe and Montell and Jamie in the dance off. Absolute joke!"
