Strictly Come Dancing's Shirley Ballas stuns fans with 'amazing' five month weight loss in new Instagram post
Strictly Come Dancing's Shirley Ballas has stunned fans with her dramatic weight loss in her new Instagram post. The ballroom dancer shared her progress over the span of five months in a clip.
Social media users were supportive of the weight loss, where the 64-year-old from Wallasey, Merseyside posted a 'before' clip showing her struggling to fit into a pair of trousers in April this year. The 'after' clip, filmed five months later - with her progress this month - showed her fitting into the very same trousers.
And she said: "I said I’d fit in those trousers by @bbcstrictly didn’t I … and tonight we’re back at 7pm x" Earlier, the head judge opened up about her simple meal that keeps her in shape.
The dancer has been candid about her weight "struggles" and last year revealed she shed 9lb in a week through a rigorous bootcamp-style plan.
And, to maintain her weight loss, the 64-year-old dancer sticks to a protein-rich two-ingredient dish. While filming Strictly, Shirley revealed she eats lemon chicken every day. On the Comfort Eating podcast with Grace Dent last year, Shirley revealed she avoids the food backstage at Strictly because it is "calorie food".
She said: "I like to walk around the table because they have lots of yummy cakes, sweets and biscuits, and they have all sorts of fantastic food, but it definitely is calorie food, because the dancers are dancing all day and are young with fabulous bodies.
"Nope, I get my chicken from Marks and Spencer or Sainsbury's that has been cooked. They bring me a lot of salad and we might have a little bit of sushi in the afternoon."
Comments under her most recent video sharing the weight loss were supportive. One person said: "Well done I am on a diet but I have very little will power. Please how did you do it?"
Another said: "Go Shirley! Fed up with it being a sin trying to lose weight . Everyone is entitled to have the body they feel happy with no matter the size."
