Shirley Ballas has given a public show of support to Wynne Evans, telling the Welsh star he 'will be missed' after his exit from Strictly Come Dancing and a week after she came under fire from angry viewers for keeping him in the competition.

Having never been in the bottom two before, opera singer and radio host Wynne dropped into the danger zone for the first time last weekend, with him looking to be on his way out of the BBC show, until Anton and then Shirley changed the course of the vote, by opting to keep him and Katya in over Shayne and Nancy, with Shirley sealing their fate with the deciding vote.

Many Strictly fans were up in arms about the result, especially after Craig and Motsi both gave their votes to Shayne and Nancy, with Shirley getting the brunt of the backlash, as she tackled some of her fiercest critics head on, with very dignified responses to their posts about her on X.

At the end of the Blackpool special, Wynne and Katya found themselves in the dance-off for the second consecutive week, only this time there was no need for Shirley to step in, as by the time the vote got to her, all three of her colleagues had already chosen Montell and Johannes to say, meaning Wynne and Katya were sent home in a unanimous outcome.

Wynne broke his silence on his Strictly exit later on Sunday night, after the Strictly results aired on BBC One and head judge Shirley was one of the first to reach out in support, as she replied to tell him: "You will be missed such a gentleman, we have all enjoyed having you on the show" as a fan swiftly responded to her comment to blast: "He was 200% better than Pete that is for sure!"
