Strictly Come Dancing's Wynne Evans 'set to leave' BBC show after result controversy
Wynne Evans has been dealt a major blow to his chances on Strictly Come Dancing, with his joy and relief at making it through to Blackpool tipped to turn to despair, with him instantly being made the favourite to leave this week.
After Welsh opera singer and pro partner Katya Jones' actions on screen caused some controversy earlier in the series, the couple had been tipped to at least land in the dance-off, with bookies predicting that public opinion would quickly turn against them. However, the pair continued to prove their doubters wrong, right until the weekend, when having finished two points off the bottom of the leaderboard, they dropped into the bottom two for the first time.
They ended up in danger with Shayne Ward and Nancy Xu, no strangers to the dance-off, having been there twice before. And, after both couples reprised their dances from Saturday night's live show, the result went down to the wire, with head judge Shirley Ballas overturning the votes from Craig and Motsi for Shayne and Nancy and agreeing with Anton, to put Wynne and Katya through.

Wynne looked elated to be joining his Strictly co-stars in Blackpool; however, having earmarked his for a potential exit for over a month, bookies have made him the runaway favourite to get the boot by the time Strictly's seaside stint is over. At the time of writing on Monday afternoon, bookies Bet Ideas had Wynne well ahead of his rivals on 4/7 to be eliminated next, with Pete Wicks second in the odds, but some distance behind on 4/1.
Predicting a Strictly exit is on the horizon for Wynne, Lee Astley, spokesperson for Bet Ideas, said: “Wynne Evans was fortunate to survive yesterday’s dance-off against Shayne Ward and we make the Welsh tenor the firm favourite to leave Strictly this weekend.
"Evans has been flirting with danger for a couple of weeks now and is odds-on at 4/7 to be eliminated on Sunday – comfortably ahead of Pete Wicks (4/1) in the betting.”
