Strictly Come Dancing's Wynne Evans defended by fans as BBC accused of 'tactical' move
Wynne Evans has been 'defended' by Strictly Come Dancing fan, as critics accused producers of trying to 'keep him in' with their song choice for the Welsh star this week.
Best known for being the Go Compare man from the famous adverts, singer and radio host Wynne saw his stint on the BBC show court some controversy when his behaviour with pro partner Katya Jones on camera raised a few eyebrows with viewers watching at home. As bookies tipped the attention around the incidents to cost Wynne his place on Strictly Wynne defied his doubters by managing to escape the bottom two, right until last weekend, when he went up against Shayne Ward in the dance-off.
After both stars fought to stay in the competition, a split decision led to head judge Shirley Ballas having to make the final call, as she used her vote to save Wynne and Katya. Her decision meant the couple are now rehearsing for this weekend's Blackpool special, with the songs and dances for Saturday night confirmed on Strictly's Instagram on Tuesday.

And the fact that Wynne has been given a Charleston, a genre that typically scores well with the Strictly judges, prompted accusations that show bosses were doing all they could to keep him in, as one follower blasted: "Of course they gave Wynne a Charleston to over mark and try keep him in" and another, in agreement, reacted: "Then if he's in the dance off he has a nice joyful dance so they can save him"
However, while there was plenty of negativity directed at Wynne as the songs were revealed, there was also plenty of support for him, as one fan, leaping to his defence, responded: "I cannot believe that week on week grown adults feel the need to make nasty / hateful comments on this page!!! These celebrities have feelings and they are ALL doing their best. " Also retaliating to some of the remarks made about Wynne, a second supporter shot back: "Why are people being mean about Wynne? Comments the judges make are not his fault. He doing well, giving it his all and enjoying it."
Sadly for Wynne, while there is still quite clearly support for him out there, every single bookmaker has made him the clear favourite to go this week, with odds on him leaving much shorter than even his closest rival Pete Wicks.
