Strictly Come Dancing professional Luba Mushtuk has revealed the celebrity partner she'd most like to team up with on the show — stand-up comedian Michael McIntyre.

Mushtuk, who has been part of the BBC show since 2018, told Radio Times that she would "love to see" what McIntyre would come up with on the dance floor.

She added: "I think it would be great entertainment. It would be so amazing and so fun."

The 31-year-old dancer said she would love to lift the famous glitterball in the future, but described working on the show as an "incredible experience" regardless of success.

She said: "During the Monday rehearsals when you’re in the studio and you talk [the celebrities] through the idea of your routine and through the music and through the choreography, and they go: ‘this is impossible’.

“And then they dance it on Saturday nights and to see the joy on their faces because they’ve been able to do something they have never done before, which they thought was absolutely impossible.

"It’s really powerful and it makes me extremely happy."

If McIntyre were to appear on Strictly Come Dancing, he'd be part of a strong tradition of recent performances by stand-up comedians.

Bill Bailey won the 2020 series of the show, while Chris Ramsey finished fourth in 2019.

McIntyre has previously said that he "couldn't do" Strictly, saying in a 2009 interview: "I would be aiming for the John Sargeant vote — take pity on this guy."

Strictly Come Dancing is due to return to screens later this year, with Mushtuk confirmed among the line-up of professional dancers preparing to take part.
