Strictly Come Dancing pro Gorka Márquez has shared some major news about his role on the BBC reality competition… and he doesn't sound thrilled about it.

The Spanish dancer revealed on Instagram on Wednesday (August 21) that show bosses have decided not to pair him with a celebrity during the upcoming series, although he confirmed he'd still be "heavily involved" with the show.

"For everybody that’s been asking, I can let you know that this series, I sadly won't be partnered with a celebrity for the main series of Strictly," he announced.

"However, I will still be heavily involved in all of the group numbers and all things Strictly! I’m excited to see this year's celebs and my fellow professionals dance for the Glitter Ball and I hope to be back fighting for it next year. As always, it's gonna be a GREAT series."

Although the 28-year-old remained upbeat in his original Instagram post, he was more candid when a fan asked if this new role was "his choice" so he could spend more time with partner Gemma Atkinson and their newborn Mia Louise.

"Not really LOL," he responded, adding: "But I will."
