Former Strictly Come Dancing professional Joanne Clifton has revealed she's moving away from dancing.

Clifton, who won the Glitterball Trophy in 2016 with celebrity partner Ore Oduba, now wants to be known for acting and singing rather than dancing – skills she's getting to show off in her current role as Janet in the UK tour of The Rocky Horror Show.

Speaking to Metro, Joanne said: "I think I still get Strictly fans there, I get shoutouts like 'Seven!' I only had one review for Rocky Horror that was like 'Oh, we don’t get to see Joanne’s dancing and we all expected that'.

"But I am kind of moving away from the dancing now, I want to be known for acting and singing. And Janet doesn’t do that much dancing, you wouldn’t have ballroom and Latin in Rocky Horror. I’m quite happy not dancing."

Joanne also admitted that she wasn't that familiar with Rocky Horror when she took the role played by Susan Sarandon in the film version.

"I had never seen the film, I’d never seen the show, before I got the audition," Joanne said.

"We decided to watch the film and the link to the stage version, and at first I was like 'What’s going on? I don’t even get it!' But then I saw the audience participation and I absolutely loved it."
