Cheryl has been rumoured to be a celebrity Strictly Come Dancing bosses are desperate to sign up for years, and now it looks like she could finally be joining this year’s line-up.

The Greatest Dancer judge is reportedly keen to sign up to the next season, and Strictly pro dancer Katya Jones just dropped a huge hint about the former Girls Aloud singer.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Jones said that Cheryl asked her for dancing tips on their Greatest Dancer performance.

“She was saying to me, ‘Katya show me how to move my hips, show me your arm movements, what do I do?”

“Then she was practising. She was loving it and she was really good,” Jones told the tabloid.

And when asked if Cheryl will be on this year’s Strictly’s line-up, she coyly replied:

“We do like a pop star on Strictly. So you never know, she could be on the next series.”

Head Strictly judge Shirley Ballas has also said that she would like to see Cheryl compete on the show.

Speaking to The Sun in January, Ballas said: “There’s a few names bouncing around but I’m open to anybody that goes on.

“I would like to see Cheryl Cole on it. You know, I think she would make a great contestant.”

Cheryl was one of the celebrities in the rumoured line-up for 2018’s series, but once The Greatest Dancer was announced, the chances of her appearing were all but diminished.

The 35-year-old would be in good company, as many pop stars have appeared on Strictly in past series. This includes all of Boyzone for the Strictly Children in Need special as well as Steps Faye Tozer, Pussycat Dolls Ashley Roberts, Blue’s Lee Ryan, X Factor’s Alexandra Burke, The Saturdays Mollie King, Mis-Teeq’s Alesha Dixon and Peter Andre.

Meanwhile Katya Jones became one of the show’s most notorious figures after she was caught kissing her celebrity partner Seann Walsh on last year’s series.

Married to fellow Strictly pro Neil Jones, the scandal dominated the headlines for weeks, and resulted in Walsh splitting up with his live-in girlfriend Rebecca Humphries.

The BBC refuses to comment on Strictly line-up speculation.

Strictly Come Dancing is expected to return on BBC One this September.
