Strictly signs up Duchess of Cornwall for Xmas special
Strictly Come Dancing has actually landed the Duchess of Cornwall for its 2017 Christmas special! Although she probably won't be cha-cha-chaing or two-stepping…
Camilla Parker Bowles will be appearing in a filmed segment welcoming this year's contestants to Buckingham Palace for a traditional 19th century tea dance, reports the Radio Times.
Viewers will see both Strictly Come Dancing stars and members of the public take part in a royal ceremony in front of a live orchestra in hopes of encouraging older people to exercise through dance.
The BBC has announced: "As part of this year's Strictly Christmas Special, there will be a festive feature from inside Buckingham Palace.
"Hosted by HRH The Duchess of Cornwall, our Strictly family and members of the local community will attend a tea dance highlighting the benefits of dance and exercise in the process of active ageing."
While we might not be seeing the Duchess doing a tango with Anton du Beke, we're sure she'll definitely add a touch of royal glamour to this year's precedings.
This year, returning favourites Jeremy Vine, Katie Derham, Colin Jackson, Robbie Savage, Judy Murray and Kimberley Walsh are all getting a second shot at the mirrorball trophy.
Friday kicked off the holiday season with a Children in Need special, which celebrated the 60th anniversary of Blue Peter with Mark Curry winning a one-off Strictly competition.
Strictly Come Dancing will air its official festive special on Christmas Day (December 25) - but first, Blackpool Week begins on Saturday (November 18) at 6.45pm, with another celebrity leaving the following night (Sunday, November 19) at 7.15pm, both on BBC One.
