Toyah Willcox 'floored' by what the judges said on Strictly
The singer likened the BBC ballroom show to a 'wrecking ball'
What did you miss?
Toyah Willcox likened Strictly to a "wrecking ball" as she admitted she was "floored" by the critique she received from the judges on Saturday's show.
The 80s pop star is paired with pro Neil Jones and the pair have got off to a disappointing start in the BBC contest, scoring just 12 out of a possible 40 for their first routine. The low mark left the pair at the bottom of the leaderboard after week one.
The judges didn't hold back when it came to Willcox's comments and during an interview on The One Show she revealed she was a bit taken aback.
What, how and why?
Discussing her debut in the competition, the singer said it was "terrifying".
"It's a completely new experience," she said. "I have done so many festivals this year yet Strictly feels like a wrecking ball coming towards you that you can't stop."
Willcox went on: "I really loved the experience but when the judges gave their opinions I was floored, absolutely floored. But I've had a lot of time to think about it and they were right. I need to pull it back and control myself."
Jones, who appeared on The One Show alongside Willcox, made it clear how proud he was of her and revealed how much she had improved.
"She was brilliant," he insisted. "Honestly, if you saw her day one, that was incredible."
"Are you saying I was rubbish?" Willcox teased, as everyone chuckled.
What did the Strictly judges say to Toyah Willcox?
The pair had danced a Tango on Saturday's show but it didn’t go down well with the judges.
Craig Revel Horwood wasn't impressed and said there was “an awful lot wrong with it”. “You were leaping around like a Springbok, darling,” he added.
And Shirley Ballas said: "Unfortunately less is more and poor Neil looked like he was going for a walk in the park with you. You had a lot, but we need to direct that lot somewhere. But Craig for once in my life I agree with you."
Both judges gave Willcox just two out of 10, while Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke gave her four points, giving them a total of 12/40.
