Strictly viewers LOVE new judge Shirley Ballas

There's always a worry when a newbie arrives on a TV series, especially as a judge on a reality show, but it looks like Strictly Come Dancing has landed a winner with new head judge Shirley Ballas.

Taking over from Len "severrrrn" Goodman was never going to be easy, but she was more than up to the job.

We already had a little preview of what was to come on the launch show a couple of weeks ago, but we got to see exactly what Shirley has to offer on the first live show tonight (September 23).

She previously promised she would put the "strict" in Strictly, but she was quite a lovely addition to the panel, and gave some really great constructive criticism to the nervous celebrities.

Shirley's technical feedback was very accessible to those not as knowledgable in dance lingo, and we reckon we're going to learn loads from her.

Viewers loved that Shirley gave proper professional feedback and let the celebs know exactly what they were doing well.
