Ashley Roberts has consistently got some of the highest scores on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing but for the last three consecutive weeks found herself in the bottom two and has been forced to compete in the dance offs.

And from the look on her face on Sunday’s episode, she is far from thrilled about it. When it was announced that Roberts was to be in the final four and Lauren Steadman was going home – Roberts facial expression looked more annoyed than relieved.

The former Pussycat Dolls singer has been ridiculed by the public for competing in the BBC dance competition, with many criticising her for having years worth of professional dance experience.

And this appears to be reflected by the public votes. Now that Strictly is open to public votes, Roberts has faced elimination three times despite getting some of the highest scores from the show’s judges.

Many viewers pointed out her disappointed and ‘sulky’ face on Twitter. One user said she ‘looked so sulky and childish’ while another wrote ‘Ashley’s face at the end says exactly why people aren’t voting for her. That look could have killed others.’

Others believed she looked unhappy because Tess Daly included in her announcement that next week’s elimination and final would solely depend on the public’s vote – regardless of their score.

A user wrote, ‘Ashley’s face after realising the final is on public vote only’ and another ‘Ashley’s face at the end there says everything there is to say about her chance of winning.’

But some viewers actually felt sorry for Roberts, with some arguing she is being unfairly punished by the public for simply being a good dancer.

A viewer said the public were being ‘cruel’ and pitied Ashley’s ‘dejected’ facial expression.

Another said while she didn’t want the singer to win, she didn’t think Roberts deserved all the ‘hate.’

Roberts defeated reaction comes a week after she burst out crying when it was announced she was to be in a dance off. She later defended her outburst of emotions to Zoe Ball while on the Strictly spin-off It Takes Two.

“Everybody’s working so hard and we’ve gotten so far in this competition,” she explained.

“We’ve put our guts, our sweat, our heart out on that dance floor every Saturday night and I think it just hits me because I don’t want to let Pash [her professional dance partner] down. I also just want to go out there and do the best that I can,” she added.

Roberts will compete against Faye Tozer, Stacey Dooley and Joe Sugg in the Strictly final on Saturday 15 December on BBC1.
