Actor and former Strictly Come Dancing winner Hamza Yassin was in fine form at Stirling's Albert Halls on Monday night as he took part in a launch night for his new book.

The book - 'Hamza's Wild World' - focuses on his work as a wildlife cameraman, with some of the proceeds going to the Dyslexia Scotland charity.

Hamza, who is also an ambassador for the Stirling-based charity, spoke on the night about his challenges in growing up with dyslexia before gaining the confidence to write books.

He revealed all in an interview with scriptwriter and author Cat Hepburn, with those in attendance then offered the opportunity to meet the star and purchase a signed copy of the book.

Hamza said: “I’m delighted to be back with Dyslexia Scotland to introduce my new book and talk about my dyslexia journey.

"It’s so important to send out positive messages to younger people about making the most of their learning difference and I’m very proud to be able to do it in support of Dyslexia Scotland.”

The event was also sponsored by the Smiddy Farm Shop, based near Blairdrummond - at which dyslexic employee Marc Ingram was named Scottish Apprentice of the Year.

Cathy Magee, chief executive of Dyslexia Scotland, said: “What a spectacular way to open Dyslexia Awareness Week Scotland.

"Hamza has done a great job of raising awareness of the learning difference that affects ten percent of people.

"We’re really grateful to him for sharing profits from the sale of his books here tonight, and to our sponsors who helped make this special event happen.”
