Strictly's Amy Dowden's surprise gesture to new partner JB from JLS
Strictly Come Dancing's Amy Dowden surprised celebrity partner JB Gill live on stage. On Saturday night during the BBC One show's return it was revealed that the pair would dance together during the 2024 series.
In the episode JB told hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman that he had wanted to partner with Caerphilly-born Amy from the start. Amy, who missed last year's series following a breast cancer diagnosis, reacted by saying: "I’m delighted. It feels like my first year all over again I want JB to have the best time and fall in love with dancing."
On Saturday JB's band JLS shared an Instagram reel showing the heartwarming moment during their show in Manchester. It saw Amy surprise JB as she revealed which dance they would first perform together. For the latest Welsh news delivered to your inbox sign up to our newsletter

Addressing the crowd JB welcomes Amy onto the stage, who is greeted to the stage by a huge cheer from fans. She said: "I am so happy and delighted to [be partnered] with the talented JB. I reckon with his talent and your support we're going to win."
Following another huge reaction from the audience, she continued: "Ok JB doesn't know yet...do you guys want to know...be the first to know what our first dance is?" After a pause for dramatic effect Amy revealed the pair would first dance the Waltz together. A slightly apprehensive JB said: "How do you even do a Waltz?" before Amy takes is arm and shows him how it's done.
The reel attracted a series of supportive comments. One fan wrote: "You guys were incredible tonight loved every moment of it." Another wrote: "I love Amy [heart eyes emoji] I'm so happy you are partnered together." Another wrote: "Let's gooooo! Team JB and Amy for the win."
