Strictly Come Dancing star Chris McCausland has said he's "falling apart" after he became ill before a training session with professional dance partner Dianne Buswell.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday (October 9), the duo released a video in which Dianne revealed that Chris has had "a little sniffle."

In one of their regular video updates, which the pair have playfully titled 'CHRIS DIAnneRIES,' Chris said: "I've had a cold."

"I'm falling apart, but I'm motoring on because I'm a soldier," he explained. "But we're getting through the dance with the song, all the way through, occasionally better than where it was yesterday."

In the Instagram clip, Dianne revealed that Chris, who is the first-ever blind contestant on Strictly, had sent her a text message ahead of training revealing his ailments, which said: "Oh Di, my throat, my nose, my wrist, my big toe."

"I've got a bug, my throat's a bit sore, my nose is bunged up, just letting you know in case you want to wear a helmet," Chris quipped.

Meanwhile, Chris recently opened up about his "friendly battle" with judge Craig Revel Horwood, saying: “Do you know what, he’s a character isn’t he? I’ll poke him with a stick and see what I get out of him.”

On the comments Craig recently gave the pair after a performance, Chris said: “When he gave us that comment – fair play, I said, ‘Think of something original’. And he came back with this line about my fingers like bananas.

“I walked off and said to [Dianne], ‘Honestly, that was rubbish, my hands were like this on your back. He’s made that up just to get out of that!’ And she looked at the video and she went, ‘Yeah, your fingers are all over the place’. I’m like, ‘Alright, maybe he had a point.’”

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
