Strictly's Claudia Winkleman distracts fans as they compare her to Star Wars character
Viewers tuning into Saturday night's episode of Strictly Come Dancing couldn't help but immediately notice something unusual.
As presenters Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly opened the show for the new series on September 21, attention quickly turned towards Claudia's outfit choice for the evening.
Sporting an ample cream dress with voluminous sleeves and a cinched waist, topped with a lofty collar, she drew unexpected comparisons to Star Wars' Princess Leia from the watching crowd - and also a Star Trek reference to a Klingon ambassador.

Audience members didn't hold back on X, expressing their thoughts with comments like: "Hey Claudia Princess Leia wants her dress back! ".
Others continued the jesting with remarks such as: "Claudia is serving MONK in that dress! " and "Why is Claudia Winkleman dressed like she's in Star Wars? ", reports the Mirror.
With the 2024 season gaining momentum following a thrilling launch, this week marked the first competitive dances for the celebrity contestants and their professional partners, aiming for top spots on the leaderboard.
Though judges will deliver their verdicts and points are to be awarded, no one faces elimination just yet. The stakes will heighten in the second week, when we bid farewell to the first departing star.
Viewers will have the opportunity to participate when the lines open in week two next Saturday (September 28), and the first elimination of the series will be broadcast the following night (Sunday, September 29). All the action tonight will commence at 7pm on BBC One, but there will be no results show this weekend.
Currently leading the betting odds are X Factor winner Shayne Ward and JLS star JB Gill however, former professional dancer Erin Boag has cautioned that Miranda star Sarah Hadland is also a contender to keep an eye on.
