Strictly’s Craig Revel Horwood Throws Major Shade At Simon Cowell

Today’s celebrity forecast: Shade, LOTS of shade.

Well, at least as far as Craig Revel Horwood is concerned, who has boasted that Simon Cowell needs to take to Strictly Come Dancing’s dancefloor to improve his career. Ouch.

The reality show rivals have been at loggerheads with their clashing TV schedules, but after The X Factor recently suffered its worst ratings in a decade, the dance enthusiast, 51, has taken a swipe at the music mogul, 56.

Suggesting that a stint on the BBC ballroom would boost his popularity, Craig told the Daily Star: “He’d probably love himself too much. I think he’s probably got two left feet.”

Adding an extra dose of sass, the Strictly judge went on to claim that Simon had been doing “the leg work” in finding celebrities to join their BAFTA award-winning programme, now heading into its fourteenth series.

Caroline Flack won the BBC dance contest in 2014, after hosting The X Factor’s sister show, The Xtra Factor while Melvin Odoom, who hosted The Xtra Factor last year, is set to compete in the 2016 series.

“We have celebrities whereas on The X Factor they’re wannabes hoping to be famous,” Craig berated. “I’d love to keep The X Factor going because I’ve employed Alexandra Burke in my Sister Act show. Simon Cowell is doing all the leg work for me in finding stars.”

Speaking of star power, Simon splashed the cash to revive a fan favourite judging panel – consisting of Nicole Scherzinger, Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne – for this year’s X Factor series.

Despite his best efforts though, the X Factor received its lowest viewing figures in more than 10 years when it returned to ITV last weekend.

The talent show’s Saturday night launch show was viewed by 6.8 million people, which is a drop of 800,000 compared to last year’s first episode.

Strictly returns this weekend to compete in another rating’s battle with the rival show – but will it waltz back up to the top of statistics table?
