Ellie Leach has named her 'dream' contestant for Strictly Come Dancing, nearly six months on from her own win on the show and after a wealth of rumours on who will be on the line-up this year.

Not long after her exit from ITV soap Coronation Street, Ellie took to the Strictly dancefloor for the first time in September and her partnership with pro dancer Vito Coppola quickly made the couple a force to be reckoned with, as the scores just got better and better in the run up to the BBC final. And, while things didn't quite go plan for them in the finale, with a lift going wrong right at the end of their Show Dance, Ellie and Vito ended up as champions, topping the public vote when it mattered most.

A month after their victory in the ballroom, Ellie and Vito joined many of their co-stars on the Strictly live tour and, now Ellie is taking on a very different role on stages across the country, as she joins the cast of Cluedo 2, as Miss Scarlet. And, as the production arrives in Newcastle for a run at the Theatre Royal, Ellie has backed one of the most rumoured stars this time round to follow in her footsteps and do Strictly.

After earning high praise from viewers as one of the hosts of Eurovision 2023 on the BBC, Hannah Waddingham has been the big bookies favourite to sign up for Strictly in recent weeks and it's a move that Ellie would most definitely approve of. Speaking to ChronicleLive, she said: "Hannah Waddingham would be amazing. And I'd just say to anyone who does end up doing Strictly this year to enjoy every second of being on the show and the whole experience. It completely changed my life!"
