Giovanni Pernice has been 'axed' from Strictly Come Dancing after nine years, with the pro dancer and former champion missing from the line-up from the new series.

Giovanni joined the BBC show back in 2015 and has made the final on four separate occasions, with Georgia May Foote, Debbie McGee, Faye Tozer and Rose Ayling-Ellis, who he clinched the Glitterball trophy with in 2021. Last year, after an early exit with Richie Anderson in 2022, he was tipped to do really well with actress Amanda Abbington and the pair were scoring consistently well, until the ex Sherlock star confirmed she'd be leaving the competition midway through the series.

After noticeably 'snubbing' Giovanni in her Strictly exit statement,. reports have since circulated that Amanda was unhappy with how the Italian dancer treated her in rehearsals, with it also being claimed she was wanting video footage of their training sessions. to back up her accusations.
