Strictly Come Dancing star Kai Widdrington has landed a new stage role alongside Coronation Street's Kimberly Hart-Simpson.

The pair will appear in a panto production of The Magical Adventures of Peter Pan at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool this December, with the dancing pro playing the role of Captain Hook opposite Kimberly (Nicky Wheatley on Corrie) as Tink.

Announcing the news in a joint Instagram post, Kai and Kimberly wrote: "It’s panto season ! Come see me us at the M&S arena Liverpool for Panto this Christmas - fun for the whole family - oh yes it is!"

The production will take place over two weeks between Tuesday, December 17 and Sunday, December 29 – with tickets available here.

Kai is best known as a professional dancer on Strictly – though wasn't given a partner on this year's season.

Opening up recently about missing out, he told the Daily Star: "Everyone wants to get a celebrity. Unfortunately, it wasn’t my time this series.

"Two boys couldn’t have one this series, and sadly I am one of them. Some of us don’t get partners, and that’s the way it is. Let’s see what happens next year. Hopefully, I’ll get one then.

"The lineup of celebs this year is amazing. It is going to be a fantastic series, as it always is. We have been filming a lot of the group routines.

"There are some amazing ones. We have worked really hard through the summer to get them ready for the series. One of the ones I feature in is very funny."

Meanwhile, Kai recently reunited with his partner from last year, Angela Rippon, as they danced together at a special event.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
