Strictly's Katya Jones and Wynne Evans issue apology as BBC viewers clock 'weird' behaviour
Katya Jones and Wynne Evans have told Strictly Come Dancing fans they were 'just messing around' on Saturday night, after some viewers were somewhat alarmed by what they deemed 'weird behaviour' on screen.
Just as he was earmarked by some experts as being the dark horse of the competition this year and a 'shock contender' to win, singer Wynne, most famous for the Go Compare adverts, was back in action alongside former Strictly champion Katya on Saturday night, for the fourth live show of the BBC programme's new series.
For the second week in a row, the Strictly judges were quick to praise Wynne's improvement, with their comments being reflected in a tremendous score of 34 out of 40, which was enough to see him tied at the top of the leaderboard with Jamie Borthwick, until the very last dance of the night when they were overtaken by Tasha Ghouri.

It was two moments after Wynne and Katya had performed that attracted attention from viewers. As Sam Quek and Nikita Kuzmin joined them on set, Wynne went to high five Katya, only for her to 'snub' him and give an eye roll that was picked up on camera. And then, as the duo gathered alongside their co-stars and host Claudia Winkleman after Pete Wicks got his scores, Wynn was seen moving his hand along Katya's body as he stood behind her, with her then appearing to move his hand away.
Clips of both moments were quickly circulated on social media and, hours after cameras stopped rolling on Saturday's live show, Katya and Wynne recorded a video to respond to the online attention, with Katya saying: "We just want to say we were just messing about in the Claudatorium on Saturday night. We just want to say sorry, it was silly joke," with Wynn then adding: "Yeah, sorry."
Katya also responded to a thread about her and Wynne on X (Twitter), as she replied: "Sorry, we've got our in-jokes."
