Yahoo News Strictly's Max George shares health update after heart surgery
Strictly Come Dancing star Max George has shared an update on his health after he underwent heart surgery.
The singer, who danced alongside Dianne Buswell in the 18th series of the show in 2020, confirmed earlier this month (December 12) that he had been admitted to hospital after suffering with “heart issues.”
In a subsequent update on December 16, Max – who shot to fame as a member of The Wanted – shared that doctors had discovered an atrioventricular block in his heart. The star required surgery in which a pacemaker would be fitted to correct the problem.

In his latest post on Instagram, Max confirmed that the surgery had taken place, with the singer sharing a photo of his chest as he wrote: “Say hello to my little friend! Given the last 10 days, this is the best Christmas present I could have ever wished for.
“Pacemaker is in. Operation took around 2 and half hours. The main issue being some of my veins had collapsed where the wires were meant to go… But the hospital surgeons, doctors and nurses at the NHS have been incredible. I owe everything to them.”
The surgeon kindly put my pacemaker just underneath a very special tattoo of mine.. So I’m sure it’s being looked after 🤍” he added, referencing the tattoo which serves as a tribute to his late bandmate from The Wanted, Tom Parker.
“Few more tests to do due to inflamed lymph nodes on my lungs, but that’ll be easy work!💪🏻 Time to rest and then tackle life full on once again❤️ Thank you for all your support. It’s meant a hell of a lot to myself and my family. Much love, Max 🖤🤖,” he concluded.

The singer received plenty of messages in the comment section, with The Wanted bandmate Siva Kaneswaran writing: “So happy for you Mate. Sending you lots of love ❤️ Rest up and heal well 🙏🏾”

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
