Strictly Come Dancing star Neil Jones has discussed whether or not he will be assigned a celebrity partner for the 2019 series.

Since joining the BBC show in 2016, the professional dancer has has not been paired with a celebrity. But there is speculation that this will change this year.

Speaking on This Morning alongside his wife and fellow Strictly pro Katya Jones, Neil told Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield that he doesn't know anything about whether he's getting a partner this time around.

"I don't know, fingers crossed," he said. "We all find out two weeks beforehand. There's normally – they book all the celebs [first]."

"There has been lots of petitions from the fans," Katya added. "Literally, official petitions, 'Get Neil a partner!'"

However, Neil said that he would also be happy if he had the same role as last year.

"[Having a partner] would be really good," he said. "I enjoy every moment of it, so it's really nice. Even if I have the same role again, I don't mind. But it would be good."

Elsewhere, Katya and Neil have both said that they have "moved on" following last year's controversy surrounding Katya and Seann Walsh's kiss.

"I'm wondering what's going to drag out longer, this or Brexit. And Brexit's doing really well!" she joked.

Neil added: "We've moved on. We've moved on, and really, [West End show Somnium: A Dancer's Dream] is a celebration of the great times we've had together."

This Morning airs on weekdays and Sundays at 10.30am on ITV.
