Former Strictly Come Dancing star Nick Knowles has shared a health update from hospital.

Early on Thursday (October 17), Nick posted on Instagram that he was undergoing an operation to reattach his bicep after being injured in Strictly rehearsals a few weeks ago.

Fans got an update several hours later when Nick posted that his procedure went well and he was now focused on fixing his knee, which was also injured during his Strictly stint.

"Just woken up from my op and all went well by all accounts," he told fans. "I have a re-attached bicep now. Bit of physio over the next two or three months and all should be right as rain and back to 100%, I think. So, that's one down and one to go on the knee."

Nick initially injured his arm during rehearsals for Week 2, though he was cleared by the Strictly medical team to dance on the live show.

Disaster struck in the Strictly rehearsal room once again the following week when Nick hurt his knee while training with pro partner Luba Mushtuk. Nick and Luba were ultimately forced to miss Movies Week to allow him time to heal.

Whether Nick and Luba would be cleared to return for last weekend's live show was touch-and-go, though they were ultimately given the green light.

The pair performed the routine they'd rehearsed for Movies Week, yet they were eliminated on Sunday after falling in the bottom two with Shayne Ward and his partner Nancy Xu.

Nick subsequently admitted he was "gutted" to be leaving the competition. However, he'll be teaming up with Luba one more time to choreograph his wedding dance with his fiancée Katie Dadzie.

The competition continues this Saturday night as the remaining couples dance to hits from Oasis, Sam Smith and Florence & The Machine, among others.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
