Stacey Dooley has responded to a couple that branded her "lazy" after they appeared in one of her documentaries.

Matt and Adele Allen appear in her series Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over, and the episode follows the documentary maker as she stays in the couple's council property for three days.

However, they have said that Stacey did not participate in their lives that much while making the doc.

"In the whole 72 hours she was here, I did three early morning dog walks at 6am with the baby and she didn't manage to make it out to one. She couldn't get up with me – so there's the lazy one," Adele told MailOnline.

"Stacey is a lovely person but I feel she lacks a bit of sensitivity and Matt got quite upset with a couple of the questions."

She added: "There is this claim she loves to immerse herself and I actually found she didn't take part in a lot of what we did. She wouldn't eat the food from the allotment, she wouldn't put her feet in the sea with Matt. In her own words, she called herself a wimp."

Stacey has since responded to the claims on social media, tweeting: "I'm a lot of things, but lazy isn't one of them. Sometimes you just got to laugh."

She added: "*types whilst travelling back from Heathrow, where I've been filming for new doc, up at 5am tmro for Glow up*"

Meanwhile, following her Strictly Come Dancing win, it has been revealed that Stacey will be returning to the Strictly fold to host the 2020 tour.

Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over airs Wednesdays at 10pm on W.
