Strictly’s Susan Calman has recalled the shocking moment she came face-to-face with a gun.

The comedian and Strictly Come Dancing hopeful, who is partnered with Kevin Clifton, revealed how she feared for her life when a gun was pointed at her during a visit to America over 20-years ago.

Susan was working as a lawyer at the time, which she did for seven years before becoming a comedian, and had travelled over to the States to spend a summer studying constitutional law.

While working on a case, Susan had arranged to meet with a prison guard at a Virginia Holiday Inn for questioning after she was accused of sleeping with an inmate.

But Susan admits things quickly took a turn for the worse.

‘We were asking questions she felt uncomfortable with, and she said she had a gun under the table and I should stop,’ Susan explained to the Daily Mirror.

‘We left. Of course you will leave, very quickly.’

But that’s not the only time poor Susan had a horrifying encounter with someone threatening her with a gun.

‘We also tried to visit a trailer park and someone shot a gun to tell us they didn’t want to speak,’ she added.

‘I had never experienced guns before but there, everyone had guns. It is not something we experience here.’

Meanwhile, Susan has been busy rehearsing with Kevin for their upcoming Quickstep to Bring Me Sunshine by The Jive Aces for Strictly on Saturday night.

The song was also her first dance at her 2012 wedding to lawyer Lee Cormack.

Last week Susan won praise from the judges for taking charge of Kevin in their Wonder Woman themed Samba, the first of the series.

He’s wearing the pants but you were in charge,’ Darcey Bussell told her as Craig Revel Horwood added: ‘I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything quite like that!’
