Strictly's Tasha Ghouri target of 'unfair' advantage backlash as dance past exposed
Tasha Ghouri has found herself the target of an 'unfair' advantage backlash from some Strictly Come Dancing viewers, after they were made aware of her professional dance background and others rush to defend her.
Before JLS star JB Gill overtook her to lead the betting on the eve of last weekend's Strictly launch show, ex Love Island finalist Tasha was the favourite to take home the Glitterball trophy this year and, being paired with returning pro and huge fan favourite Aljaz Škorjanec has certainly not done her chances any arm as she remains bookies' pick for the highest finishing female in the new series.
Tasha and Aljaz danced for the judges for the first time on Saturday, September 22, with their cha cha cha to Sabrina Carpenter hit Espresso getting the judges very excited, as they heaped praise on Tasha's technique and her 'spectacular leg action,' with the glowing feedback then reflected in their scores, as Tasha and Aljaz got 30 out of 40 and finished the night joint second of the leaderboard.

While plenty of Strictly fans, some unfamiliar with Tasha's Love Island fame, were impressed by her first routine, others have now argued that she 'shouldn't be on the line-up' given that she has a dancing past. Prior to being on Love Island, The North Yorkshire star landed a number of successful dance contracts, as well as appearing in numerous music videos.
And having found that out, some critics were quick to take aim at Tasha on X, with one posting: "Do the #Strictly judges not know Tasha used to be a pro dancer?" and a second reacting: "Oh look at Tasha the professional dancer being good in a dancing competition"
Others jumped to Tasha's defence, with one responding: "Tasha is a professional street dancer, that's VERY different to ballroom and Latin. She's never even danced with a partner before and she's working just as hard as everyone else."
