Wynne Evans has been supported by his Strictly Come Dancing co-stars, after breaking his silence for an 'emotional' statement in response to being eliminated from the competition.

Having been in the bottom two for the first time a week earlier, Welsh singer and radio host Wynne, best known for being the Go Compare man, was made the 'dead cert' to go, as bookies declared that the result in Blackpool was a 'forgone conclusion.' And, sadly for Wynne and pro partner Katya Jones, the predictions made by both experts and many fans proved to be bang on, as they were condemned to the dance-off for the second week in a row, having to battle against Montell Douglas and Johannes Radebe to stay in Strictly.

Wynne and Katya went into the head to head on the back foot, having got four points less than their rivals on Saturday night, with their Charleston getting 31 out of 40, compared to the 35 Montell and Johannes received for their salsa. After not getting enough support from the public, Wynne and Katya also got none from the judges either, with all four of the panel opting to save Montell and Johannes.

Wynne looked gracious in defeat as he made his exit in the Tower Ballroom at the end of the Strictly results show and has been equally as upbeat on Instagram, taking to his account to post a video and write: "Thank you so much to everyone that has tuned in and supported me over the past 9 weeks. This has been a fantastic experience and I couldn’t have done any of it without @katyajones. Big thanks to @bbcstrictly for making me feel so welcome and a special shout out to my family for filling the fridge every week!!"

In a shout out to his fellow contestants, Wynne added: "Good luck to everyone still in the competition, I’ll be cheering you on from my sofa next Saturday!" and they were quick to return the favour, with Tasha Ghouri replying: "Going to miss you, had the best laughs and chats with you, should be so proud of yourself" as Jamie Borthwick commented: "Love you"
