String of Lloyds Banks closures hit towns across Derbyshire
A string of Lloyds Banks in Derbyshire are set to close as part of plans to shut over 130 branches nationwide. Lloyds Banking Group has said 61 Lloyds, 61 Halifax and 14 Bank of Scotland sites across the country will shut between May this year and March 2026.
The move has been blamed on customers using online services more than the actual sites. Staff affected will be offered alternative roles, according to the Group.
Branches across Derbyshire have been impacted by the announcement, with one site already shut and others due to close. The Matlock branch, Causeway Lane, will close on Wednesday, May 7, with Ashbourne, Compton, shutting on Tuesday, June 24.

The Allenton branch in Derby already closed its doors to customers on January 23. Confirming the closure of the Derbyshire branches, Lloyds Bank said: "Before we close any branch, we look at how our customers are managing their money and using the branch.
"Most customers are now using our Mobile Banking app, Internet Banking or calling us instead. This means they are using branches, including our [Ashbourne, Matlock and Allenton] branch much less."
A Banking Hub is planned for Ashbourne in place of the closed branch, Lloyds has confirmed. The Group said: "A Banking Hub is also planned for this area and you'll be able to use it to do your everyday banking.
"Our Community Banker will visit this area, so you can come in to talk to us. They can support you with banking online and can also provide help with making payments and other account enquiries."
