Stromboli Volcano's Latest Eruption Captured in Aerial Police Footage

The Italian police force, Polizia di Stato, captured footage of the volcano on Stromboli island during an eruption on Wednesday, July 3, showing the power and scale of the natural phenomenon.

The eruption caused the death of a hiker and forced many to flee the area, as ash and hot rocks came spewing from the volcano.

Italian firefighters carried out a major operation to contain damage to the area.
