Strong cannabis smell led police to haul of drugs and swords
Two men have been arrested after the smell of cannabis lead police to find a selection of drugs and swords. On Wednesday November 20, plain clothes officers were on patrol in the Dovecot area.
They attended a flat on an unrelated matter when they immediately smelt cannabis after the front door was opened. Two suspects were detained inside and following a search of two adjacent flats, four swords were recovered along with eight cannabis plants, cropped cannabis, white powder and paraphernalia related to drugs production.
A 33-year-old man from Dovecot was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in offering to supply cocaine and producing a controlled Class B drug (cannabis). A 42-year-old man from Dovecot was also arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of cocaine, being concerned in the supply of a Class B controlled drug (cannabis), cultivating cannabis and possessing an offensive weapon in a private place.

Both men have been released under investigation as enquiries continue. Merseyside Police said Dovecot forms part of its operation EVOLVE Liverpool-Knowsley.

They often use violence and intimidation to enforce their illicit trade, and we welcome the fact that the actions of officers in this case has led to dangerous weapons being taken out of circulation.
"Our officers are dedicated to taking drug dealers off our streets and making a difference to the lives of people who live in areas where drug-related activity is taking place.
“Crime is falling in our EVOLVE neighbourhoods and pride is increasing. Together with our partners, we are committed to continuing to make these areas safer for generations to come.
