Stroud woman stole from supermarket she was banned from entering
A 39-year-old woman from Stroud has been jailed after shoplifting from a supermarket she was banned from entering under a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO). Jesse Hancock, of no fixed address, was handed a CBO in April which banned her from entering any retail premises belonging to the Stroud and Gloucester Citysafe Scheme, as well as North Woodchester Post Office.
However, just six months later, in October, Hancock was seen on CCTV on two separate occasions, entering one of the supermarkets that fell under her CBO, and stealing items from inside. Officers from several different teams worked together to locate Hancock, who was then arrested on October 22 and charged with two shoplifting offences and two breaches of her Criminal Behaviour Order.
Hancock was remanded in custody and appeared at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, November 13, where she pleaded guilty to all charges. She also asked for a further six shoplifting offences to be taken into consideration. Hancock was sentenced to 36 weeks in prison.

Stroud Neighbourhood Policing Inspector, James Hutchins, said: "Hancock has continually flouted the conditions of her CBO, reoffending multiple times. I hope this custodial sentence will reassure the businesses who have been affected by her crimes, and send a message to those who are intent on committing these types of offences that they will not be tolerated.
"We will continue to support our businesses in the town by targeting shoplifters, and obtaining further orders at court where possible."
