Student Hacker Can Be Extradited To The US

Rodney King Found Dead In A Swimming Pool

Student hacker Richard O'Dwyer who created the TVShack website, can be extradited to the US to face copyright infringement charges, Westminster Magistrates Court has ruled.

The 23-year-old created the website to help people watch TV shows and films for free, allegedly earning thousands of pounds from advertising on the website.

O'Dwyer, who studies at Sheffield Hallam University faces jail if convicted of the allegations, which were brought following an investigation by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency.

His laywer Ben Cooper has argued that TVShack did not store copyrighted material itself, but simply directed users to sites where they could download the restricted content - a service he argued search engines like Google and Yahoo also provide.
